Outreach Ministries

God calls us to “love our neighbor as ourselves,” and Intercession makes every effort to live out this command in our community. We partner with several ecumenical programs serving the community, and we are proud to have created our own programs to serve our neighbors. Below you will find some of the organizations that we work with, along with programs we have created ourselves to reach our community.

Footprints Daycare provides a high-quality educational program for children, ages one through  kindergarten, in a nurturing, loving environment that supports their social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual development.

Our Community of Hope Garden is associated with the Adams County Community Gardens CO-OP and  coordinated through the RSVP Department of the Senior Hub. Keep Thornton Beautiful provides funding to help establish the gardens. Produce grown is given to local food banks and parishioners. In 2020, the garden produced over 2000 servings of healthy, fresh vegetables.

Growing Home is an ecumenical program in which we join with other churches to feed and house homeless families as they strive to get back on their feet. We also collect food in the fall and gifts for families every Christmas. Quilts from the quilt group are given to the families in the program.

St. Francis Center is an Episcopal Jubilee Center providing services and support for homeless people. We support them by collecting clothing and money throughout the year.

West Adams County Crop Walk is an annual fundraiser that supports Church World Services projects to alleviate poverty globally and locally. The local funds frequently support Growing Home as well as local food banks. Intercession members have participated annually for over 25 years.

Loaves & Fishes is a yearly in-gathering of non-perishable items that provides food for community members in need.
